The OsserMare National Portal presented today in Rome
The OsserMare National Portal is a project of the National Observatory on the Blue Economy – OsserMare, developed in collaboration with the Guglielmo Tagliacarne Research Centre of Unioncamere.
The portal features multiple sections offering information and in-depth analysis, beginning with the identification of maritime institutions, sectors, supply chains, guidelines, policies, and regulations that shape Italy’s Blue Economy.
One dedicated area, the “Databases”, includes:
- Advanced, interactive dashboards continuously updated with key national Blue Economy data
- The “Blue Numbers” section, which provides quantitative insights into the structure of the Blue Economy
- Indicators of Italy’s blue sector
- The Methodological and Definitional Framework adopted by the Observatory
- The Multipliers, offering further economic analysis
Another section focuses on Publications, divided into National Reports, Regional Focuses, and European Reports.
The portal is also enriched with news updates relating to analysis and monitoring of this macro-sector.
“The OsserMare portal is a tool we make available to policy makers, research centers, and industry professionals for the constant and up-to-date monitoring of the Blue Economy,”
said Antonello Testa, National Coordinator of the National Observatory on the Blue Economy – OsserMare.
“The wealth of knowledge developed over the years through the National Blue Economy Report by the chamber system is now further expanded with new analytical and in-depth activities.”
The launch took place during Italy’s National Sea Day, at the headquarters of Si.Camera – Unioncamere, during the workshop “New Tools for Analysis and Observation of the Blue Economy”, organized by OsserMare in collaboration with the Tagliacarne Research Centre.
The event was also part of the official celebrations for the National Made in Italy Day, and opened with a video message from the Minister for Business and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso.
The event featured opening remarks from:
- Giovanni Acampora, President of Assonautica Italiana and Si.Camera
- Vice Chief of Staff of the Italian Navy, Admiral Giuseppe Berutti Bergotto
- Head of the Department for Maritime Policies, Admiral Pierpaolo Ribuffo
- Commander Giuseppe Strano, representing the General Command of the Coast Guard – Port Authority
The workshop brought together 20 key stakeholders from across the main Blue Economy sectors, engaging in a roundtable to foster dialogue, data sharing, and collaboration in analyzing the dynamics of the maritime economy.
“Today, we celebrate both National Sea Day and Made in Italy Day, highlighting the value of Italy’s Blue Economy,”
commented Giovanni Acampora.
“This initiative, part of the ‘Blue Forum 2025 – Creating Value: The Sea in the Jubilee Year’ project, confirms the chamber system’s commitment to promoting the Blue Economy as a strategic lever for national competitiveness.”
